Science 4 Us is a website that has many science resources for elementary students. This website is a great teacher resource that includes animated lessons for students, teacher and parent support, as well as science songs, hands-on projects, and many lesson plans. Teacher will find that this website is great because it is easy to navigate as has a lot of content that is covered in the elementary science standards.
Science A-Z is a great resource because it divides its resources according to grade level and subject. This makes it easy for teachers to find what they are looking for right away, or even browse to discover a new approach to teaching the standards.
PixNTell is a great app because it's easy for students to use and a great way to display information that has been learned in class. PixNTell would be great to use for a end of chapter project, and a fun way to assess students to make sure they are on the right track. PixNTell's website shows how to make a video and even has examples of different PixNTell's that people have shared.
Shadow Puppet is another great app that allows students or teachers to create videos. I think this form of media is beneficial to students because it's more interactive and a better visual to show rather than just showing students or having them create a PowerPoint. Shadow Puppet's website shows the app's features, classroom stories, and lesson ideas.
Little Bird Tales is another app that allows students to re-create stories. The website features lesson plans, the common core template, public Tales that have been shared, and much more. Little Bird Tales app and website are beneficial for students and teachers because it allows teachers to incorporate language arts with science, or any other subject for that matter.
The National Science Teachers Association's website has unlimited resources for science teachers to use in the classroom. In particular, they have a list of hundreds of outstanding trade books available for science teachers that are sorted based off of the year they were published. All of the books are age appropriate for K-12 grades, which makes this resource beneficial to almost all science teachers.
The National Weather Service's website has lesson plans available to teachers based off of the hydrologic cycle. It breaks the cycle down and gives a brief summary of what it is, and has lesson plans attached for evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, and runoff. This is very beneficial to science teachers because lesson plans are not always easy to make and having them available is a great resource.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's website has resources for elementary teachers including lessons plans for various topics about ocean life and the environment. Some of these lesson plans categories include oceans and coasts, climate, weather and atmosphere, marine life, and freshwater.
Understanding Science has countless resources for teachers, and even gives tips on how to make sure your students are really understanding the information. The great thing about this website is that it is mainly made exclusively for teachers in the way that it is set up. Grade levels are grouped together for resources based on the content areas that those grades teach, which similar to Science A-Z, makes it incredibly easy for teachers to find what they are looking for.
This is my favorite resource of them all! Ed Heads has online, interactive games for science and math. This is a great resource for teachers because each activity meets state and national standards for science and math, so you know your students are learning what they are suppose to! Although some activities require a membership to play, there are free games available. Each game also has a teacher's guide which makes it easy for teachers who do not have much experience with this site (or online games in general) to operate and give instruction.
Planting Science is an amazing resource for teaches as well as students. They have a separate teacher and student page which makes it simple to navigate to what you are looking for. On the teacher page, it has resources for doing hands-on science, as well as how to communicate that to a class. Within these, there are tips on doing investigations and making sense of findings, as well as making presentations and sketching and drawing in science class.
Earth Exploration Toolbook consists of a collection of online Earth system science activities. This website is intended for older students, however is written for teachers, which makes in flexible in the ways to use this resource. A fifth of sixth grade teacher could use this resource to challenge her students towards the end of the year in what they know and understand about the Earth system.
